I joined Oiselle in 2014 after struggling and needing the support of a team again. I joined the Volée and immediately felt the love. After dropping 6 minutes off of my half-marathon I qualified for the Olympic Trials Marathon and was moved up to the Haute Volée, Oiselle's elite team. Being part of this amazing team has allowed to me to reach new heights. The company is run by a group of kick-ass women that are fighting the good fight to support women everywhere and the running community as a whole. Their support is genuine and the clothes are definitely on point! I may or may not sneak some of their pieces into my work wardrobe.
UCAN ELITE AMBASSADOR
UCAN was originally created for a child who could not break down glycogen and had to be tube-fed every 2 hours to maintain normal blood sugar levels. UCAN saved his life. I started using UCAN in the fall of 2015 after having some issues keeping my blood sugar stable on runs. UCAN is made from superstarch which is a complex carbohydrate source that helps the body maintain its energy levels and prevents blood sugar spikes. The formula does not cause the stomach issues that are common with gels and chews. The superstarch minimizes insulin response giving you a timed-release delivery of glucose allowing you to burn fat for fuel and continue to burn fat post exercise. A useful tool for optimizing performance through blood analytics. This platform gives you options for testing your biomarkers to determine your personal optimal zones and to show you where you stand in relation to that zone. Each biomarker also indicates nutritional recommendations to better those numbers in addition to how that marker relates to your overall health and performance. I first started using InsideTracker when I was feeling fatigued. I was able to correct several problems to recover my season and end it with several PR's. I now continue to use it to make sure I am training optimally, not pushing myself beyond my limits, and to make sure that my body is ready to perform at its best each season. My recommendation: Testing before each new season and again midway through. Depending on the length of the season a secondary mid-season test couldn't hurt as well as one post season.
The best in cross training! The elliptigo is an elliptical bike designed to take you out of the gym and into the great outdoors. This bike simulates the running motion better than an indoor eliptical which tends to shorten the stride length. Cardiovasculary, the elliptigo performs better than a regular bike giving you a more all-over body workout and an increased heart-rate. I use the elliptigo in place of secondary runs on days when I am feeling a tired. I also use it during down weeks of training in place of runs and for injury prevention and rehab. No matter what sport you do their are physical and mental benefits to doing yoga. But, finding the right way to add it in to your practice is essential. That's why I love Jasyoga! They offer hundreds of videos targeting specific areas of the body. This makes it easier to create a practice individualized to you, helping to prevent injury, and make you stronger, faster, and more resilient with a clearer mind! I started using Jasyoga after purchasing their Hit Reset book and then their Work In book. I have never had an issue working out but when it comes to resting or working in, I struggle. Working through the Work In 28 day program I was able to tap into some much needed stress relief through meditation. Running fast isn't just running!
