CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon - Debut Recap

Just about 9 months ago, and about 4 days after the trials, I sat in my room at the Yosemite lodge replaying the race over and over in my head. I closed my eyes and all I could see was Figueroa St. and the endless stretch of road ahead. I could still feel the burning in my legs, the tightness in my chest and the pain in my heart. The worst part of all was the constant visions of me stopping. As I sat on the bed of our room staring off into space I turned to my boyfriend and whispered the words “Am I going to be okay?”

Each season is a new season. What happened in the past is in the past and while I can learn from past experiences I cannot rest on them. Each season has the potential to build on the previous but only if I do my part. All that being said, I focus on goal setting to focus my attention on what lies before me. The very first Regional Bird Camp was even better than expected. Upliiting and rewarding, I will forever treasure my experiences with these 18 women. I shared my story but the stories these women shared with me were the inspiring ones. I have been running competitively for about 10 years but I am constantly learning. After a year of disappointment and a drive to succeed fueled by my Oiselle NC teammates, I finally hit my stride. I ran without expectations and harnessed the support of my teammates.
